Mercedes-Benz has partnered with German low-code automation firm n8n to roll out artificial intelligence (AI)-powered workflow automation across its business.

The German automaker said the platform aims to give employees the ability to build and deploy AI-driven workflows within their day-to-day operational processes.

The rollout covers all major business functions, spanning research and development, production, sales, financial services, human resources and information technology.

The deployment runs on a self-hosted, cloud-agnostic basis, which the company says aligns with its modular technology architecture while keeping control of sensitive data and processes in-house.

To build internal momentum ahead of the launch, Mercedes-Benz organised a company-wide hackathon that drew participation from more than 1,500 employees across its business units.

The exercise was used to surface practical AI and automation use cases, with the most viable proposals now being taken forward as part of the global deployment.
